Saturday night, October 3 - NO MONTHLY DANCE TONIGHT!   Normally, the first Saturday of the month features the Next Generation Swing Dance Club monthly dance at Allegro Ballroom in Emeryville.   But instead, the dance happens Sunday, October 11 at the Hyatt Regency  San Francisco Airport as part of “Boogie by the Bay”.

October 8-11  Next Generation’s WCS Dance Convention, Boogie by the Bay is Columbus Day Weekend,  October 8-11, 2009. Friday, October 16, 9pm-12pm. The Gotham Swing Club of NYC is hosting the West Coast Swing room at the Sundance Stompede, a country western dance event at the Golden Gateway Holiday Inn, 1500 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco.  The Stompede’s group of Bay area dancers are relatively new to WCS and invite the local swing community to help them learn! Gotham Swing Club members are traveling 2500 miles from NYC to answer that call.   Free with a weekend pass to the Stompede or $15 for the evening. Wednesday, October 28,  Ashkenaz has a blues band, JOHNNY NITRO & THE DOORSLAMMERS starting at 8:30pm.     A regional guitar legend for three decades, Johnny Nitro is known for his tough note-biting guitar technique, delivery of smoking classic blues, and raunchy yet soulful vocal style. The greats he has worked with include Albert King, Tommy Castro, Charlie Musselwhite, Paul Butterfield, and James Cotton. Nitro’s Doorslammers is a San Francisco-based blues band known for its high-energy and explosively entertaining shows. , Bay West Ballroom presents a West Coast Swing Masquerade!  Join West Coast Professional, Joanna Meinl in the North Bay’s spookiest setting on the best floor North of the Golden Gate!  Beware, you must climb the haunted stairwell to reach the main floor.  Once there, beloved dance professional, Joanna Meinl will teach an Intermediate Level West Coast Swing Class from 8-9 pm, followed by an evening of all West Coast Dancing from 9-11 pm.  Costumes are highly encouraged.  .  This venue has a great sprung wood floor.  Bay West Ballroom is located at 1133 E.
