Friday. Feb 5th thru Sunday Feb, 7th., 2010, Angel Figueroa returns to the San Francisco Bay Area. Angel is a WCS champion dancer and dance instructor from Austin, Texas who instructs in West Coast Swing, Hustle, Argentine Tango, International Latin, Mambo and American Rhythm.  There are still private dance lesson slots available.  Saturday 5pm-7pm and Super Bowl Sunday is open! Saturday night, February 6 is the Next Generation Swing Dance Club monthly dance at Allegro Ballroom in Emeryville.  The DJ is Kelly Casanova.  Dance starts at 6:00pm. There is a WCS lesson from 7pm -8pm in the back room with Yvonne and Jason Wayne. Please note that this is the second “local” convention coming up soon.  Both conventions are friendly to beginning WCS dancers.  Conventions are a gathering of west coast swing dancers from around the country to participate in a combination of large group classes with the top professional WCS dancers, competitions for all levels of dancing and lots of open dancing and late night dancing.

Friday, February 19, Bay West Ballroom in San Rafael presents an evening of west coast swing with owners, West Coast Swing champion Michelle Kinkaid will teach a lesson in Cool Moves.  Lessons from 8-9pm.  There will be a west coast swing  dance from 9pm – 11pm.  This venue has a great sprung wood floor.  Bay West Ballroom is located at 1133 E. Tuesday, February 23 is a dance with a live Big Band in Novato.  The People of Note, a 15 piece band, present their Tuesday Big Band Dance at the Margaret Todd Senior Center in Novato, 1560 Hill Road, from 7:30 to 9:30. Admission is only $5. The center has a nice, large dance floor. This band plays a mix of general ballroom, latin, and medium swing, much of it WCS friendly.  Range of attendees is seniors to teenagers.  Best to bring a dance partner.  For more info or directions, call the Center at 415-893-7940.

Saturday night, February 27, will be the Redwood Empire Monthly Swing Dance at Odd Fellows Hall at 545 Pacific Avenue in Santa Rosa.  Included at the dance is a free beginner lesson from 7:00-8:00 pm.  Dance also starts at 7:00 pm and continues to 11 pm.    For information, please go to www.resdc.org or call (707) 762-8928.
